A negelected but symbolic mural will remain — at least for now — at the Bernal Heights Library while the building is renovated.
Two sides of the painting on the 70-year-old library were recommended to be painted over, but community members stepped in to convince officials to leave the entire mural.
The mural has become a lightning rod issue in a neighborhood that some say is becoming less and less diverse.

AHNI: New Energy opens on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in the Chaney Gallery.
The show, which runs through December 16, 2009, will feature AHNI, a well-known clothing artist and designer's paintings, prints and photography.
An opening reception, held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on November 6, will include an artist talk at 5:00 PM, light refreshments, a chance to view AHNI's art and converse with the talented artist about her work.

A night of music and the visual arts is set to take place in an unexpected gallery – the serene settings of a spa.
Tonight's event will feature the work of debut artist Michael DeSilva and his son Aaron, who will provide the music for the evening at the Samadhi Spa, at the Newstead Resort.
Artist Mr. DeSilva rediscovered his artistic side two years ago after working as a pressman for 35 years.

As part of the monthly meeting for the Schuylkill River Heritage Center, Chuck Hirsh's paintings of historical Phoenixville are on display at The Schuylkill River Heritage Center, located at 2 Main Street in Phoenixville.
The artwork will be on display through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Hirsh got into the art business after he started making copies of his mother's paintings for his siblings.
